It's Been a Big Season So Far

What a great time I am having with the boat, trips to paradise, Marlin and more. I have made up some cleats for the boat out of 3mm tube, wish I had done them earlier though. The other day we also landed a Striped Marlin, off Sydney in a completely unprepared kind of way. We didn't intend to fish for them but we did decide to because it was quiet elsewhere. We landed this Marlin and raised another two for the day, one particular fish was really feisty, kept coming back for more but we never hooked it! The fish caught was around 130kg (estimated and a good size for a Striped) and caught on the 6th Jan 2015 - There seemed to be a few fish caught that day off Sydney and water temps in close were 22.5deg and the further we headed out the warmer it got, best water was around 24deg and the fish was hooked in 24deg water.

Video of catch can be seen here:  First Marlin on Tailor-Made

New backrest/ grabrail with some rod holders.

Cleats made from 19mm x 3m wall tube, ends TIG welded and ground to shape.

The finished product.

Jumping madness

Fish was kept in check the whole time, we chased it and the centre console helped here.

More tail-walking!
